inspiration #1 - a 50s/vintage prom wedding

So I was thinking . . . what about having prom for a wedding? :D I remember my prom it was only 2 years ago! *tear * I miss it I had a lot of fun. My boyfriend and I wore red and than his friends decided to wear red as well. My boyfriend also decided that he wanted an al capone inspired suit and than one of his friends decided that he also he wanted al capone inspired suit. sigh . . . boys . . .

My Prom

The boys . . .

Me and my friend also wearing red dresses, my dress was an empire waist , drop down dress with no puffiness! ;)

me and the bf, he looked good in his gangster suit :D

The Idea
. . . but i was thinking about a vintage prom or a fifties inspired prom for a wedding theme. And which movie could help with some inspiration . . . Grease!

Sandy's white dress can be either the bride's dress or an influence for the bridesmaids dresses. You can see the balloons and paper strings hanging on the roof.
I also found the board below at Snippet & Ink which has colors that would be cute for a prom wedding. The colors are cotton candy blue and lemon ice. I also think that pink accents, like pink peonies in the centerpieces, or pink roses for corsages would be cute.
{link} for the board above
The balloons in the ballroom can resemble decorations that are normally in a school dance.

Also on Snippet & Ink, I found a vintage prom inspired wedding {link} that snippet and ink put on the blog. This wedding has a lot of good ideas for a prom-wedding.

Look at the dresses the bridesmaids wore, it looks like a fifties prom court.

I really like this picture of them dancing.

The Reception
And now a couple of pictures I collected that can help with the prom theme.

{link}
A pastel colored cake that I found on Martha Stewart, it also has pleats on it which can resemble a fifties dress.

Bouquets of different colors for the bridesmaids, or even have them as centerpieces. (Martha Stewart)

{link}
Pom-Poms! They can also be used as decorations on the roof of the ceiling.
Corsages . . . :D

{link}
The bridesmaids can wear corsages. Martha Stewart has a post on how to make the corsage above click on the link above.

{link}
Flower girls can have corsages too, also if you click on the link, Martha Stewart has a tutorial on how to make the cute corsage above.

and the favor . ..

{link}
And for favors, I found this candy from the 1950's on cracker barrel, It has pretty much the candy that was popular on the fifties.Click on the link above for more info.
The Bridesmaids Dresses

{link}
The bridesmaids dress are from Samuelle Couture and they are very fifties inspired dresses and they would look really cute on the bridesmaids.

The Bride

{link}
All 3 of these dresses I found them on Rosa Clara website (just click above). Rosa Clara is a spain based wedding designer :D. (not just because I love spain) These dresses actually remind me of a fifties bride. On the website if you don't read spanish there is the english version so no worries.

So I hope that helps I also found on beau-coup.com/blog more ideas for a prom wedding and they also refer to the vintage-prom wedding that snippet & ink showed.

wishing i was staying at chilworth manor

If only there was a chilworth manor of some sort in texas, unfortunately i haven't found anything like it. If this hotel looks familiar to you its because if you have watched "The Wedding Date", I beleive this is were Kat's sister gets married at. Its very pretty and it looks like a nice private estate hidden away in really pretty landscape.

^ cute! the chess pieces

I would love to have a wedding there just like kat's sister did.

spanish gypsies and flamenco

some things i am interested in is the spanish culture in spain. i know that the arabs influenced the spanish since they were ruled by the arabs once. the gypsies came and at first were not seen as proper people but now when you search for gypsies you might get flamenco as the result since it is influenced by gypsies. (flamenco is a type of dance that is extremely famous in spain)

flamenco dancers {link}

i love the roses on the picture and the red lips {link}

"Spanish Gypsy" by Alberto Vargas 1928 {link}

flamenco dancing, this picture looks cool {link}
more flamenco dancing {link}
esmeralda on the spanish novela of El Zorro {link}
Those are just a couple of pictures of spanish influences of gypsies and flamencos which where all found on flickr.

the quincianera pics - pre-accident

Here are some pictures from the black and pink quincianera I went to before the car accident happened about a month ago. The theme wasn't just only black and pink but there was also a star theme included.

^Cake! Tres Leches

^ A couple of the decorations from the Quincianera.

^More decorations

^ and even more decorations

^The Quincianera girl herself, she looked like a princess and i like the black and pink dress, its very different.

^After she made her entrance and danced for a while she changed into a second number. I liked her boots!
^ The is me and my sister, without even thinking or talking about it we both wore black and ivory. My sister's dress with the leopard print is so cute.
^ The family before going to the Quincianera.We barely take family pictures together so this is rare.

^My cousin and I posing for the camera. Her flowery dress is soooo cute and she paired it with hot pink pumps!

So those are just some pictures I had promised to post them a long time ago but since the car accident I needed time to recover and my sister is still recovering but hey we are doing so much better now which is what matters most.

long time since i write

its been a while since i have blogged. i actually was in a really bad accident the end of july and i am finally almost normal now :). the accident included my sister and cousin and they both are doing much better now. my sister has to be on crutches for 6 weeks and 6 more weeks of no physical activity. yeah, the accident was so bad that my car is totaled and we kept getting told that we are lucky to still be alive... but i don't want to reminisce about it because it gets me sad all over and it sucks. . .

so i have about 2 weeks until i go back to school which means moving back out from home to the new apartment. yay (with tons of sarcasm added to it) . . . anyways today i decided to try and copy a katharine hepburn hairstyle . . . well i tried but it was an inspiration and the reason was just because i was bored. . .

the food that my roommate (godsis) and i have recently been making

so lately my godsis and i since july have decided to cook our own meals to save money. we had been eating chicken fajitas for the longest since we did not now what else to make with chicken. recently though i bought a recipe box from real simple at barnes and noble, and it contains these recipe cards with different kinds of meals in it. so far my godsis and i have made chicken pot pie, meatloaf, chicken tortilla soup, sloppy joes, lemon pepper tilapia, beef stir-fry, chicken stir-fry, and baked chicken with potatos. i've taken a couple of pictures of some of the dishes we have made and some there aren't pictures because we were so hungry we didn't even think about taking pictures. normally we use lean ground turkey and we try to eat chicken rather than beef. the only time we ate beef was for the beef stir-fry but that is because it looked really good.

1- lemon pepper tilapia
2- turkey meatloaf
3- chicken pot pie on a plate
4- chicken pot pie in baking dish

it looks good doesn't not bad for beginners in college! :D everything we have been making has been turning out really good we are now trying to make salvadorian food which is our nationality. i am half honduran too but we are trying to make salvadorian pupusas which are like empanadas except these look like tortillas, only they have cheese and pork inside. i don't really know how to explain it but they are really good. we can make american, asian, mexican food but we can't seem to make our own slvadorian food. shame i know.

thats all for now

love, ely
